Advocating for free access to higher education according to the Disability Act of 2011 of the Republic of Sierra Leone. 65 disabled students have gained free access to higher education (Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone).


Community Engagements on Disability Issues

Providing awareness to communities that disability is not inability. One of several sessions of EDSI’s effort to arouse interest on disability issues across the country.


Health for The Disabled

Empowering nurses to promote the free health care for people with disability across the country. Distributing copies of Disability Act 2011 to nurses in different health centers across the country.


Peace Education

Conducting workshop on the role of people with special needs in sustainable national development in Sierra Leone as they are the symbol of peace, and not the scar of the war.


Sustainable Livelihood Scheme

- Training disabled persons on how to run small ventures to increase their income and become self-reliant.

- Supporting disabled single mothers with cash to setup their small ventures after the entrepreneurship motivation training.


Advocate for Accessibility to Public and Private Infrastructure

Two success stories – bold steps taken by EDSI team to ensure that the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children's Affairs and Fourah Bah College University of Sierra Leone constructed ramps for easy accessibility of buildings at the university. Zainab Kamara EDSI National Coordinator commissioned ramp at the office of the Minister of Social Welfare Gender and Children Affairs.
